After some one hour flight off the Avalon Airport (the smaller of the two airports in Melbourne that doesn’t actually look like a real Airport) I finally arrived here in Sydney. From tomorrow night on I’ll stay at the Rydges Hotel in Camperdown for three nights, for the first night I had to look for a hostel. Ended up staying in the City Central Resort Hostel, nicely central located, a 10 min walk from the Opera House. In fact I just went there to satisfy my touristic needs.
At first glance you notice that Sydneys structure is not quite as quadratic as Melbournes CBD and therefore it appears to be less static. And also the fact that the Botanic Gardens lie next to the city centres skyscrapers offers some nice views rich in contrast. From a botanical view the Garden in Melbourne might feature a bit more but the one in Sydney looks somehow nicer.
Walking through the city in contrast shows people rather keeping track of their business than having fun. The animation must be happening either at night (I’ll come back to this later) or in specific suburbs as Kings Cross.
But anyway a nice city so far. After a short rest in the Gardens with view onto the Opera I started exploring Circular Quay. Pretty impressive, the massive white sail-shaped roof of the Opera House and the huge Harbour Bridge (about 500m wide) in the background.
hi. kings cross lohnt sich wirklich… und der felsenweg durch den nationalpark von manly aus ist auch nur zu empfehlen…
